What the journey looks like
- Five days: Paro, Thimphu and one Punakha night at a fast pace.
- Seven days: the same three bases with a full Tiger's Nest day and more credible sightseeing.
- Dochu La belongs on the Thimphu–Punakha transfer in both versions.
What you will need to leave out
- Remove Phobjikha, Trongsa and Bumthang from both plans.
- In five days, choose either a deeper Thimphu day or more Punakha time; do not pretend both are complete.
- Never replace the final Paro positioning with a same-day long road transfer to an international flight.
Arrival and departure days are shorter than they look
Landing after lunch and flying out in the morning does not give you two sightseeing days. Check the real flight or border times first. If a missed connection would be costly, spend the final night in Paro.

Use these routes as a starting point. The hotel, activities, guide and overnight stops can change with the season, road conditions, fitness and interests. Save Trongsa and Bumthang for a longer Central Bhutan trip.
