Which option fits your trip?
Short leave: Use five days for a selective western sampler and accept a fast pace.
Balanced first trip: Use seven to ten days depending on whether Phobjikha is important.
Central Bhutan: Use 12 or 13 days for staged roads, Trongsa and Bumthang.
What the journey looks like
- Count arrival and departure as partial days unless the flight times prove otherwise.
- Add a day for every remote valley instead of converting every day into a transfer.
- Add another buffer when tickets are separate or travel falls in a disruption-prone period.
What you will need to leave out
- One to three days should stay in Paro rather than promise a countrywide tour.
- Five to seven days should not include Bumthang.
- Nine to ten days should remain Western Bhutan unless a longer, safer return plan is confirmed.
Arrival and departure days are shorter than they look
Landing after lunch and flying out in the morning does not give you two sightseeing days. Check the real flight or border times first. If a missed connection would be costly, spend the final night in Paro.
