# Everest Base Camp ATM and Cash Guide: Nepalese Rupees, Cards and Backups

Cash access is more dependable in Kathmandu and larger lower-route settlements than at high villages. Carry a sensible reserve in Nepalese rupees, keep it secure and do not assume an ATM, card terminal, internet connection or cash supply will work when you need it.

Withdraw or exchange most of the planned trail budget before leaving Kathmandu. A lower-route stop may offer a top-up opportunity, but availability, fees, operating hours and cash capacity can change. Treat every trail facility as a convenience, not a guarantee.
