# Everest Base Camp Trek Toilets: Teahouses, Hygiene and Remote Excursions

Toilets range from shared western-style bathrooms in lower villages to simpler squat or outdoor arrangements at higher lodges. Carry a small hygiene kit, plan for cold and darkness, and use lodge facilities before remote excursions because Base Camp is not a public lodge settlement.

## How facilities change by village

Lower villages generally offer more choice and easier access to lodge bathrooms. As the route climbs, rooms and washrooms become more basic, colder and more dependent on the individual lodge. Confirm the expected standard with the operator rather than assuming every teahouse is the same.

## What to carry

- Toilet paper or tissues in a waterproof bag

- Hand sanitizer and a small personal hygiene kit

- Headlamp for dark corridors or outdoor facilities

- Small disposal bags and any personal menstrual-hygiene supplies

- Warm layers that are easy to manage without leaving the room exposed
