First-party field data

EBC Trail Price Index 2026/2027: Food, Rooms, Wi-Fi, Charging & Showers

This index is the single field-data source for the site's trail-cost pages. Amigo records dated menu or receipt observations by village and publishes ranges only after verification; until a row is checked, it remains marked for field collection rather than filled with an estimate.

Why trust this guide?

Each guide keeps the answer near the top, separates stable facts from changing operational details, names its author and reviewer, and links to responsible sources.

At a glance

Use this first-party field data guide to make one clear Everest Base Camp planning decision before you travel.

Current publication status

The spring/autumn collection sheet is now defined, but a complete comparable village sample has not yet been verified. Publishing empty cells is more honest than turning old web prices into false first-party data.

Once Amigo's operations team records the same item definitions in each village, this table will be updated with a sample count, observed date, range and any lodge meal-policy condition.

Field note

Field update required before numerical village ranges are published. Last methodology review: August 7, 2026.

How each observation must be recorded

  • Village and lodge name kept internally; publish an aggregate when enough observations exist.
  • Exact observation date and trekking season.
  • Room price with meal policy and bathroom type.
  • Standard dal bhat portion, basic black tea and one-litre boiled-water price.
  • Wi-Fi duration or data basis, charging unit and shower heating method.
  • Photograph of menu or receipt where permission is given.

How to use the future index

The index will show direction and variation, not promise what every lodge will charge. Supply transport, fuel, solar power, season, room demand and meal policies change the final amount. Travelers should still carry a reserve and ask before ordering a paid service.

Useful answers

Frequently asked questions

Why are there no invented price ranges?

A first-party index is useful only when observations are dated and comparable. Old blog numbers are not a substitute for field collection.

How often will the index be updated?

The target is twice yearly, after spring and autumn field reports, with the observation dates shown.

Will every lodge charge the same?

No. Published ranges will describe observed samples, not impose or guarantee a village price.

Sources and fact-checking

Changing prices, fees, aviation arrangements, local procedures, weather and lodge availability should be reconfirmed before travel. Altitudes, distances and walking times are approximate planning values.
