# Everest Base Camp Permits & Guide Rules: TIMS and Khumbu Fees

For foreign trekkers on the standard EBC route, current Nepal Tourism Board guidance lists Everest Base Camp under the revised TIMS provision: use a licensed trekking guide and an agency-issued TIMS Card, in addition to Sagarmatha National Park entry and the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu local Trek-Card or visitor entry. Local implementation and fees should be reconfirmed before travel.

## What to carry

## Published local charges to budget separately

For a non-SAARC foreign visitor, the two clear park and local charges therefore total about NPR 6,000 before TIMS or agency service costs. The corresponding SAARC total is about NPR 3,500. Treat these as dated planning references and reconfirm the official schedules immediately before travel.

## TIMS guidance, local practice and route variations

Nepal Tourism Board currently names Everest Base Camp among routes where a licensed trekking guide and trekking-agency-issued TIMS Card are mandatory. Older articles saying that TIMS is unnecessary or optional should not be used for a 2026 trip.

Travelers may encounter reports that checkpoint practice has differed in the Khumbu. That operational inconsistency does not override the published NTB guidance. The responsible approach is to arrange the listed documents and reconfirm the municipality's current registration process before departure.

Side trips outside the standard EBC corridor, restricted areas, climbing peaks or entry from a different region can introduce additional permits. Tell your operator the full intended route before documents are arranged.
