# Gokyo Lakes Trek: Route, Lakes, Gokyo Ri and Planning Guide

The Gokyo Lakes trek follows the quieter Gokyo Valley to a chain of glacial lakes and Gokyo Ri. It can stand alone or connect with Everest Base Camp, but the higher route needs extra days and weather flexibility.

## Why choose Gokyo

Gokyo offers turquoise lakes, Ngozumpa Glacier and a different view of Cho Oyu and Everest-region peaks. The experience is more about valley scenery and a high viewpoint than the Base Camp marker.

- Possible connection over Cho La when conditions allow

## Route and acclimatization

Build the itinerary around Namche and an appropriate higher acclimatization stop. The Cho La connection is a serious high-pass option, not a casual shortcut, and may require a guide, traction and weather margin.
