Browse the full Manaslu Circuit library →Machha Khola to Jagat covers 20–22 km in about 6–7 hr. The route changes from 930→1,340 m; accumulated climbing and descending make the stage more demanding than the net altitude difference suggests.
Distance, ascent and descent
Plan 20–22 km, approximately ~+850 m of accumulated ascent and ~−440 m of descent. These are route-planning estimates; GPS smoothing, lodge location and temporary diversions change recorded totals.
Settlement sequence
Machha Khola → Khorlabesi → Tatopani → Doban → Yaru → Jagat
Bridges and trail conditions
Warm river-gorge walking combines rough road, narrow riverside path, rock steps and several suspension bridges. Wet stone is slippery after rain, and exposed landslide sections should be crossed only after the guide checks them.
Water and lunch points
Refill or buy treated/boiled water at Khorlabesi, Tatopani and Doban when lodges are open. Tatopani or Doban is the normal lunch zone; carry a snack because service can be slow.
Toilets and hygiene
Use lodge toilets at breakfast, lunch and tea stops. There are no dependable public toilets between settlements; carry toilet paper and hand sanitiser and follow leave-no-trace practice.
Mobile network and Wi-Fi
Mobile signal is intermittent and lodge Wi-Fi is not dependable. Send essential messages before leaving Machha Khola and keep permits and contacts offline.
Common pacing mistake
Starting too fast on the first trekking day. Repeated small climbs make the net 410 m gain misleading, and a late lunch can leave walkers rushing the stone steps into Jagat.
Arrival facilities
Jagat has several teahouses, simple twin rooms, meals, paid charging and occasional Wi-Fi. It is a common restricted-area checkpoint, so keep the group and permits together.
