Where to withdraw cash
Withdraw Nepalese rupees in Kathmandu from a bank ATM and keep the receipt. Do not rely on Arughat, Machha Khola, Jagat or Dharapani for a working machine, enough cash or a card network. Split the money between two waterproof locations.

Contingency nights and emergency transport
Keep enough cash for at least two extra lodge/meal days and changed jeeps. A 10% reserve on top of expected personal spending is a useful minimum; winter or monsoon departures may justify more. Medical evacuation costs should be handled through insurance, not carried as physical cash.
