Permit costs
The restricted permit is charged in US dollars by season and by the number of days inside the controlled area. MCAP and ACAP are separate conservation permits; the NTNC portal currently lists NPR 3,000 each for foreign nationals and NPR 1,000 each for SAARC nationals. Online payment adds 2.9%. Always reconfirm before issue.
Guide and porter costs
- Licensed guide planning allowance: about USD 30–45 per day depending on experience, group size and what insurance/equipment is included.
- Porter planning allowance: about USD 22–30 per day, with a clear load limit and insurance.
- Guide-cum-porter arrangements cost less but should not combine unrealistic guiding and carrying duties.
- Staff transport, meals, lodging, insurance and equipment must be written into the quotation.
Transport, lodging and food
- Shared local/jeep transfers: lower cost but more changes and waiting.
- Private jeep sectors: higher comfort and schedule control; road conditions still govern travel time.
- Teahouse room: commonly USD 6–15 equivalent per room, sometimes linked to eating at the lodge.
- Three simple meals: roughly USD 25–40 per person per trail day, rising with altitude and menu choices.
Small trail expenses that add up
- Charging: typically NPR 300–800 per device or hour/charge arrangement.

- Boiled or treated water, snacks, hot drinks and toilet paper: budget NPR 800–1,500 per day according to habits.
Insurance, tips and reserve
Insurance is purchased separately and should cover trekking to at least 5,106 m, remote medical treatment and helicopter evacuation subject to policy terms. Add a personal tip budget rather than hiding tips inside staff wages. Keep at least 10% of the land cost as an emergency reserve for road delays, extra lodging or itinerary changes.
