Namrung to Lho covers 10–12 km in about 4–5 hr. The route changes from 2,630→3,180 m; accumulated climbing and descending make the stage more demanding than the net altitude difference suggests.

Distance, ascent and descent

Plan 10–12 km, approximately ~+650 m of accumulated ascent and ~−100 m of descent. These are route-planning estimates; GPS smoothing, lodge location and temporary diversions change recorded totals.

Settlement sequence

Namrung → Banjam → Lihi → Sho → Lho

Bridges and trail conditions

A steady village-to-village climb passes forest, cultivated terraces, chortens and long mani walls. The route is less confined than the lower gorge, but stone steps and altitude slow the final approach.

Water and lunch points

Lihi and Sho are practical tea, water and lunch points when lodges are operating. Carry treated water because winter closures can remove the expected stop.

Toilets and hygiene

Use teahouse toilets in Namrung, Lihi, Sho and Lho. Between villages, facilities are limited and agricultural land should be respected.

Mobile network and Wi-Fi

Namrung is the last relatively plausible connection before the high valley, but signal remains inconsistent. Lho lodges may sell Wi-Fi or charging without guaranteeing either.

Common pacing mistake

Treating the shorter distance as a recovery race. The 550 m sleeping gain crosses 3,000 m, so slow pacing and symptom reporting matter more than an early arrival.

Arrival facilities

Lho has several teahouses, a monastery area, meals, charging and limited communications. Rooms are cold; dry wet layers promptly and keep the sleeping bag accessible.
