Skills, equipment and support

Lhotse requires more than the ability to walk at altitude. Climbers must move efficiently on steep snow and ice while wearing gloves, carrying a load and managing a fixed-line system.

  • Relevant 7,000- or 8,000-metre experience should be assessed honestly.
  • Confirm technical boots, crampons, harness, helmet, ascender, descender, ice axe and clothing systems.
