# Nepal 11-Day Itinerary: Kathmandu, Lumbini, Chitwan and Pokhara

Eleven days suits travellers who want Buddhist heritage, wildlife and mountain views without making a high-altitude trek the centre of the trip. Give Lumbini a deliberate overnight, Chitwan two purposeful nights and Pokhara enough time to be more than a transfer before returning to Kathmandu.

## Give every region a distinct job

Kathmandu is the arrival and heritage base; Lumbini is the pilgrimage pause; Chitwan is the lowland wildlife change; Pokhara is the mountain-view and recovery base. The route works when each region is experienced on its own terms, not when the group treats every stop as another photo opportunity.

- Keep Lumbini slower than a same-day transit stop when the pilgrimage purpose matters.

- Use two nights in Chitwan so wildlife is not reduced to arrival and departure.

- Treat Pokhara views, boating and activities as weather-dependent.

## Choose the optional Pokhara block

Use the extra Pokhara day for a short lower-altitude foothill walk only when the group wants to walk and the current roadhead, fitness and guide plan fit. Otherwise keep it as a lake, museum, food or recovery day. This itinerary does not own a high-altitude trek.

- Remove the optional walk before removing the Kathmandu return buffer.

- Keep medication, documents and valuables with the group during long transfers.

- Ask who rebooks a domestic flight or arranges an extra night if the route shifts.

## What to confirm before paying

- Check the season for the Terai heat, mountain views and road conditions.

- Confirm whether Lumbini, Chitwan activities and Pokhara transfers are included in the written quote.

- Keep the tourist visa separate from any trekking documents if a walk is added.

- Protect the final Kathmandu night whenever the international flight is important.

Is eleven days enough for Lumbini, Chitwan and Pokhara?+
Yes for a purposeful culture-and-nature route when the group accepts several transfers and keeps activities flexible. It is not enough to add a major trek without replacing a region.
How long should I stay in Lumbini?+
One or two nights can work depending on the pilgrimage purpose and transfer plan. Give the site a real visit rather than treating it as a road stop between Kathmandu and Chitwan.
Is two nights in Chitwan worth it?+
Usually when wildlife matters. Two nights allows more than a transfer and gives heat, activity timing and rest some room.
Can I add a trek to eleven days?+
Only by removing Lumbini, Chitwan or the wider tour and using a route-specific trek plan. Do not add a high-altitude trek to the remaining gaps.
Should Pokhara or Lumbini get more time?+
Give the deeper block to the trip purpose: Lumbini for pilgrimage and heritage, Pokhara for views, rest and walking. The route does not need equal nights everywhere.
