# Nepal 6-Day Itinerary: Kathmandu, Chitwan and Pokhara Without a Trek

Six days can add Chitwan to Kathmandu and Pokhara, but it is a transfer-led highlights route. Keep Chitwan to a purposeful two-night stay, give Pokhara one complete block, and do not add a trek or Lumbini just because the map suggests they are nearby.

**Field advice**

If an international departure matters, add a Kathmandu night. Six days can show three regions, but it cannot make every transfer resilient.

## Decide which experience gets the best day

Chitwan changes the trip through heat, wildlife and lowland landscapes; Pokhara changes it through lake time, mountain context and activity choices. Choose the priority before booking. If wildlife is central, protect the two Chitwan nights. If mountain views are central, shorten Chitwan rather than treating both places as equal checklist stops.

- Use a trained guide and current park rules for wildlife activities.

- Treat sightings and clear mountain views as opportunities, never guarantees.

- Keep a quiet arrival block after each long transfer.

## Transport is the controlling constraint

Road transfers between Kathmandu, Chitwan and Pokhara can take longer than the map suggests. Flights may save time but introduce weather and rebooking exposure. Decide whether the group prefers a ground-heavy route, a more expensive flight-supported route or two bases instead of three.

- Ask what happens when a flight or road transfer moves by half a day.

- Carry water, snacks and motion-sickness supplies for long road stages.

- Keep the final international connection in Kathmandu rather than betting it on a same-day return.

## What this route leaves out

This page owns culture, wildlife and a mountain-view base without a trek. It does not include Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Base Camp, Lumbini or a proper short trek. For walking, use the six days to replace one region with a route-specific plan rather than stacking four purposes into one holiday.

Is six days enough for Kathmandu, Chitwan and Pokhara?+
It is enough for a fast highlights sampler when the group accepts transfers and keeps activities flexible. It is not enough for a deep visit to all three or a trek on top.
Is two nights in Chitwan worth the transfer?+
Usually when wildlife is a real priority. Two nights gives more than an arrival-and-departure stop, but it still needs heat, activity and road-time planning.
Should Chitwan or Pokhara get more time?+
Give the deeper block to the reason you chose the route: two Chitwan nights for wildlife, or more Pokhara time for views, lake time and an activity. Do not split every day evenly by default.
Can I add a short trek?+
Only by removing one region and using a route-specific walking plan with a roadhead, permits, guide support, pacing and recovery time.
Can I return from Pokhara on departure day?+
You can, but it is a weak plan for an important international flight. Return to Kathmandu the previous night whenever the connection matters.
