Use the official site for the final payment instruction. ## Online application and payment - Use the official immigration portal, enter passport details exactly and save the submission ID. - A barcode or receipt can be required at the airport; keep a digital and offline copy. - The Department of Immigration provides separate online visa and card-payment services. If payment from outside Nepal is not available through your preferred method, follow the current official alternative rather than a third-party website. - Do not use unofficial visa sites that imitate Nepal government pages. ## Extensions, overstay and re-entry Tourist visa extensions are handled through Department of Immigration services in Nepal and are subject to the current fee schedule and annual maximum. The Department's citizen charter currently lists USD 45 for the first 15 extension days, then USD 3 per day, with a maximum total stay of 150 days in a visa year; it also lists an overstay charge of USD 5 per day. Treat these as time-sensitive and resolve an overstay with Immigration immediately. ## Exemptions and special cases - Indian citizens do not need a tourist visa to enter Nepal, but accepted identity documents still matter. - Some nationalities must obtain a visa before arrival; check the current Department of Immigration list. - The Department publishes special provisions for SAARC citizens, children, NRN card holders and other categories. Do not assume a child or second passport receives the same treatment without checking. - A visa is separate from a trekking permit, TIMS card, conservation-area entry or restricted-area permit. ## Visa on Arrival (VoA) categories, fees, and eligible borders Tourist visas can be obtained upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) in Kathmandu, Pokhara International Airport, and all major land border crossings with India (Belahiya/Sunauli, Birgunj, Kakarbhitta, Nepalgunj, Mohana/Dhangadhi) and China/Tibet (Rasuwagadhi/Gyirong). Print the confirmation barcode receipt with your submission number and present it directly at the airport visa fee collection counter. Tourist visas can be easily extended inside Nepal at the Department of Immigration in Kalikasthan, Kathmandu, or the Pokhara Immigration Office. Extensions cost a flat fee of USD 45 for up to 15 additional days, plus USD 3 per day for each day beyond 15 days.
