[Sources & methodology →](/data-methodology) On this page ## The twelve-day itinerary - Days 1–3: arrive and adjust in Lhasa; keep the first afternoon quiet. - Days 4–5: complete Potala, Jokhang, Barkhor and one flexible cultural day before the long road stages. - Day 6: travel through the Yamdrok Lake corridor toward Gyantse or the approved overnight. - Day 7: continue to Shigatse and use Tashilhunpo or supplies as the route allows. - Day 8: keep a slower Shigatse or transition day when the next high road is demanding. - Days 9–10: approach Tingri, Rongbuk or the approved Everest-side overnight; treat the viewpoint as conditional. - Days 11–12: begin the return and protect a real departure-gateway night before an important flight. ## What makes twelve days more workable - Name every overnight elevation, not only the high pass or viewpoint. - Leave a lower fallback if the group is not adjusting or the road cannot reach the planned town. - Keep the Everest-side visit road-based and separate from the Nepal trekking route. - Keep Kailash, Manasarovar and long treks outside this framework unless the entire itinerary is rebuilt around them. ## Treat the Everest day as conditional Rongbuk access, viewpoint opening, cloud, wind, road condition and permit scope can change.
